VITACID HP for drinking water
Vitacid HP is a powerful complex of organic acids and minerals enriched in an antibiofilm agent for application in drinking water. Designed for pig and poultry breedings, this liquid acidifier is added to drinking water to ensure healthy digestive function and feed efficiency. Vitacid HP is one of the oldest products in the Vitacid range and it’s your alternative to antibiotics on livestock farms.
- Decontaminating effect via bacteriostatic and bactericidal action on pathogens
- Helps preserve water quality and limits the development of pathogenic flora
- Decreases the buffering power of the feed or water
- Stimulates enzymatic activity and protein digestibility
- Controls the balance of flora in the intestine
- Better absorption of nutrients
- Lower mortality rates and fewer digestive disorders

For healthy, safe water
Water is absorbed two and a half times more than feed and is the No.1 nutrient for animals. The risk of biofilm build up in pipes should therefore not be overlooked as polluted water can potentially be a major threat to sanitary conditions. Vitacid HP from Vitalac sanitises water and reduces its pH, creating a less favourable environment for the growth of biofilm in the drinking water distribution systems on pig and poultry farms.
Recommendations for use
Depending on the chemical nature of the water and farm-specific risk factors, VITACID HP is incorporated in breeding continuously in drinking water at a rate of 1,000 to 1,500 ml for 1,000 L of water.
Benefit from an analysis of your water with our VITAQUAKIT kit in order to define the quality of your water and the appropriate dosage of VITACID HP. It is advisable to regularly check the water pH and dose adjustments to achieve a pH between 3 and 4. VITACID HP acts as an algaecide when incorporated in drinking water at a rate of 500 to 800 ml/m3.
Other precautions: A good protocol for cleaning and sanitising your water system involves keeping your pipes clean. This will limit the growth of fungi due to stagnating water in the pipes.
