Video | Why formulate Ultimacid with medium chain fatty acids ?
As a precursor in the use of acid mixes to reduce the use of antibiotics, Vitalac has developed a high level of expertise in the various acids and their combinatory effects. New combinations are developed by our technical department in order to respond specifically to the different challenges of pig and poultry farms.

What is a medium chain fatty acid ? It is a fatty acid that contains between seven and twelve carbon atoms, i.e. heptanoic acid, capric acid, caprylic acid and lauric acid. These are triglycerides from dairy fats or vegetable oils, such as coconut or palm oil. They have the ability to penetrate the wall and destroy and inhibit Gram-positive bacteria that cause various pathologies that can be encountered in livestock.
These medium chain fatty acids in Ultimacid therefore naturally improve the intestinal health of animals, target new pathogens (Streptococcus suis, Coccidiosis), improve technical performance, enhance animal welfare and are a good natural alternative to antibiotics.
